HVAC Construction Estimator

About the role

The HVAC Estimator prepares detailed and accurate estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects, collaborating with project teams and analyzing market data to support competitive bidding.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate HVAC estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete project scopes.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for HVAC systems, equipment, labor, and materials.
• Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate vendor and subcontractor pricing into bid proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and field personnel throughout the preconstruction process.
• Participate in bid reviews, scope development, project planning, and value engineering efforts.
• Develop conceptual budgets, preliminary estimates, and design‑build pricing as required.
• Maintain organized estimating records and documentation for both awarded and non‑awarded projects.
• Analyze project risks, opportunities, and constructability considerations.
• Monitor labor trends, market pricing, material costs, and industry developments to maintain competitive estimates.
• Support projects across renovation, tenant fit‑out, healthcare, education, life sciences, commercial office, and specialty construction markets.
• Assist with site visits and field reviews to support estimating and preconstruction activities when necessary.

Qualifications

• 5‑10+ years of HVAC estimating experience within the construction industry.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Experience performing HVAC quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analysis.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids and competing deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience obtaining and evaluating vendor and subcontractor proposals.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with project managers, operations teams, engineers, and clients.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation methods.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with QuoteSoft estimating software preferred.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts construction market conditions and pricing preferred.
• Experience with design‑build, negotiated work, or multi‑state projects is a plus.

Pay

Competitive compensation ranging from $95,000 to $125,000.
