HVAC Commissioning Technician
JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Start-up/Commissioning Technicians for full-time, year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia area.

Responsibilities
- Start-up, commission, maintain, and service industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and locate malfunctions, diagnose problems, and determine appropriate repairs.
- Utilize laptops/tablets to document startup and commissioning forms required per project specifications.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
- Prove mechanical and plumbing systems controlled by building automation systems to third-party commissioning firms.
- Share partial supervision of NEBB Tab contractors and respond to punch-listed equipment.
- Interface and coordinate activities with ATC sub-contractors.
- Service and repair evaporators, condensers, receivers, repack valves, lubricate moving parts, replace filters, and clean coils.
- Adjust, repair, or replace thermostats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
- Repair or replace compressors, components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
- Maintain refrigerant inventory and consumption logs.
- Follow established safety procedures and utilize safety protective equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by direct manager.
- Complete minor copper tubing tasks, including cutting and threading pipe and making pipe and low-voltage connections.
- Store and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Record and report faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences, including time and materials expended on work orders.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks using pressure gauges or soap-and-water solutions.
- Instruct helpers on HVAC system installation.
Requirements
- CFC/Universal License.
- 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects or equipment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and work from drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attendance, reliability, dependability, and flexibility.
- Ability to interact with multiple personality types while ensuring positive outcomes.
Benefits
- Excellent compensation: $82,000 - $104,000 per year.
- Daily per diem paid (travel, housing, and meal expenses covered) for qualified applicants traveling in excess of 70 miles per day.
