HVAC Commercial Associated Designer

About the role

GSM Services is a 4th-generation family-owned business, proudly serving the Greater Charlotte area for nearly 100 years. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Designer to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with creating and updating construction drawings and technical documentation
• Support design and coordination efforts using industry software tools
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
• Collaborate with Designers, Project Managers, and field teams
• Help resolve technical challenges and contribute to project success
• Maintain accurate data entry, material information, and documentation

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED
• Additional training or education in drafting, design, construction technology, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred
• Basic knowledge or experience with AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Ability to learn and work with design and document management tools such as Bluebeam Revu (experience a plus)
• Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new systems

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive hand movements
• Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly (with or without correction)
• Coordination of hands, eyes, and fingers for detailed tasks
• Occasional work in varied environments, including rooftops, ladders, crawl spaces, and outdoor conditions
• Ability to work extended hours when business needs require

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if driving is required for the role)
