We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HVAC CAD & Revit Designer to join our Design & BIM team. This individual will create and maintain accurate HVAC and mechanical piping drawings and 3D models to support medium to large-scale construction projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, fabrication shops, and field teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain detailed HVAC and mechanical piping drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Prepare layouts for HVAC systems including hot and chilled water, steam and condensate, fuel oil, heat pumps, fan coils, chillers, cooling towers, and associated piping systems.
- Produce coordinated construction documents including installation drawings, sections, details, penetration drawings, and as-built documentation.
- Generate prefabrication spool sheets and detailed fabrication drawings in coordination with shop personnel.
- Interpret and understand project specifications, drawings, submittals, and the engineer’s design intent.
- Coordinate HVAC systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other trades to achieve fully coordinated models.
- Perform clash detection using Navisworks and participate in BIM coordination meetings to resolve conflicts.
- Liaise with general contractors, design teams, project managers, colleagues, and other construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and incorporate field input, redlines, and coordination comments to maintain accurate and current drawings.
- Ensure designs comply with local codes, industry standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Apply a practical understanding of fabrication methods and pipe assembly to support constructible design solutions.
- Organize and distribute drawings, sketches, and layout information to support efficient job site installation.
- Generate hanger layout points and deck penetration points for use with Trimble layout systems.
- Provide technical support to field and shop teams to address design-related questions during fabrication and installation.
- Support value-engineering and constructability reviews by identifying efficient routing and system alternatives.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical drafting and design, preferably in commercial or industrial construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Navisworks, BIMrx, Procore, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, applicable local codes, industry standards, and construction best practices.
- Experience with fabrication-driven design and a practical understanding of piping installation and assembly methods.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Pay
$75,000 - $110,000
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, standard 8-hour shift, with flexibility to accommodate project needs.
