Responsibilities
- Select, scope, and oversee subcontractors assigned to your work or project. Supervise a design group of 1-4 subcontractors for a single project.
- Review contracts for potential pitfalls or highlight obligations of Rosendin to the client.
- Assist Rosendin Project Management in the selection of equipment and securing of long lead items.
- Incorporate obligations required under utility agreements into the project design.
- Assist in utility requirements surrounding obligations and performance leading up to Project COD.
- Perform or assist in preliminary designs for prospective projects, including developing single-line diagrams (SLD) and general arrangements (GA) from scratch for estimating purposes.
- Review, comment, and oversee HV designs performed by others, as well as equipment procured by Rosendin. Specify BIL, voltage withstands, short circuit electrical and mechanical ratings.
- Use AutoCAD and Excel to communicate conceptual SLD, layout, and transmission lines with minimal support.
- Support fast-paced work for estimating, contract closeout, or business development document generation within a 2-4 day timeframe.
- Apply knowledge of installed costs of typical substation and transmission components to conduct value engineering functions.
- Back-check for quality assurance of design packages assembled by subcontractors.
- Coordinate design criteria with budgetary issues alongside Rosendin Senior Managers.
- Assist the contract closeout team with the review and markup of contractual documents and represent Rosendin in client-facing calls or in-person meetings.
- Assist in marketing the firm.
Requirements
- A four-year degree from an accredited university or college in engineering or construction sciences with a minimum of 6-8 years of experience in the construction of renewable HV Substation and Transmission projects.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and coordinate with others, as well as analyze and resolve complex engineering problems.
- Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of most aspects of MV/HV electrical engineering, including the ability to review and comment on:
- HV Transmission and Substation Designs
- Technical studies such as harmonics, transients, ampacity, short circuit, load flow, grounding, protection, and other HV/MV field studies
- Interconnection requirements and their application into designs
Skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, with designs lasting 3-6 months and supporting estimating with bid packages.
- Fluency with remote productivity software such as Box, Cisco, GoTo Meeting.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with software like Cymcap, Easy Power, and ETAP is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
- Fluency with IEEE Standards, with the ability to research and learn new standards.
Working Conditions
- General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Travel up to 20%.
