About the role
The Humanoid Robot Data Collection Operator will play a crucial part in the development of advanced humanoid robots designed to reduce human risk in conflict zones and enhance efficiency in labor-intensive industries. This role requires a strong technical background and a passion for robotics.
Responsibilities
- Operate humanoid robots during data collection activities, including locomotion, manipulation, teleoperation, and human-robot interaction scenarios.
- Execute data collection procedures according to established protocols to generate high-quality datasets for AI training and validation.
- Set up and maintain data collection environments, including test fixtures, sensors, cameras, props, and supporting equipment.
- Monitor robot performance during testing and identify, document, and report hardware, software, or operational issues.
- Collect, organize, and verify data from various robot subsystems, including vision systems, force sensors, joint encoders, IMUs, and audio systems.
- Support teleoperation and demonstration data collection activities for imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and autonomous behavior development.
- Perform robot startup, shutdown, charging, calibration, and basic maintenance activities.
- Collaborate closely with robotics, AI, software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to execute testing plans and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain detailed records of test execution, data collection sessions, system observations, and equipment status.
- Follow safety procedures and operational guidelines when working around robotic systems.
Requirements
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in robotics, engineering technology, manufacturing, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in robotics operations, manufacturing, testing, laboratory environments, or technical support roles.
- Comfortable working directly with electromechanical systems and robotic equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute repetitive tasks consistently and accurately.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Able to follow written procedures, test plans, and work instructions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating robots, autonomous systems, drones, industrial automation equipment, or robotic test platforms.
- Familiarity with teleoperation systems, VR interfaces, gaming controllers, or data collection tools.
- Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or robotics development programs.
- Basic understanding of sensors, cameras, data acquisition systems, and robotic hardware.
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse automation, field operations, or laboratory testing environments.
- Background in fast-paced startups or hardware development organizations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during testing and data collection activities.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working around moving robotic systems in laboratory, manufacturing, and field test environments.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and light mechanical work.
