Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is a specialized behavioral health system operated by the State of Minnesota, providing treatment programs, residential, and vocational services for individuals with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and more.

About the role

The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center is seeking kind and compassionate Human Services Technicians dedicated to serving patients in a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital. This role involves assisting with direct patient care, activities of daily living (ADLs), and ensuring patient needs are met in a large, campus-based setting. The facility serves adults with mental illness, including individuals civilly committed for specialized care such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and those with co-occurring mental illness and chemical dependency.

Located 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, toileting, hygiene, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Complete and document vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and report to nursing staff.
• Develop therapeutic and professional relationships and rapport with patients.
• Contribute to cleaning and administrative support tasks to maintain patient care and facility safety.
• Assist with admissions and discharges.
• Escort and/or transport patients as assigned.
• Follow treatment plans and other individual patient programs.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and maintain records within an electronic health record.
• Desire and ability to interact and establish rapport with patients living with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population, utilizing persuasion and authority.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or completion within three months of hire.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• As listed in the Requirements section.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant certification (CNA).
• Experience working in a mental health setting.

Additional Requirements:

• Resume must clearly describe experience in the required areas, including beginning and ending month/year for each job held.
• Reference and background checks, including a criminal background check, will be conducted prior to appointment.
• Documentation of freedom from tuberculosis (TB) via a blood test is required prior to employment (TB skin testing is not accepted).

Pay

$21.59 - $28.94 per hour; $45,079 - $60,426 annually.

Schedule

• Shift: Night Shift, 11:30 PM - 7:30 AM.
• Days of Work: Varies; includes every other weekend.
• Travel Required: No.
