Human Services Worker: 2nd Shift-Work Release Program

About the role

Community Partners in Action (CPA) is an organization dedicated to criminal justice reform and advocating for the dignity of those in and out of prison. We serve nearly 7,000 individuals annually through various programs including reentry and housing, youth initiatives, a nationally recognized Prison Arts Program, and holistic alternatives to incarceration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a supervisor and monitor resident activities in compliance with program policies.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents using appropriate de-escalation and behavior motivation techniques.
• Act as an advocate for all participants, encouraging program participation and accountability.
• Resolve resident conflicts in a solutions-focused manner.
• Maintain professional boundaries with residents, staff, volunteers, family members/visitors, and providers.
• Promote a culture of respect, empathy, mutual support, belonging, and work to eliminate unconscious bias or discrimination.
• Assist with meeting resident needs as necessary and appropriate.
• Implement agency/program policies and procedures governing facility operations.
• Report and document incidents that occur during shifts.
• Conduct random drug testing and breathalyzer tests.
• Complete necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure all visitors have proper identification and conduct pat and pocket searches on residential clients.
• Engage in staff meetings and training to enhance professional development.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or associate/bachelor's degree.
• Prior experience working in the human services field with justice-involved clients.
• Crisis management skills.
• Ability to interact with multi-cultural populations.
• Valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) desired.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and implementation of all agency/program policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with universal precautions and related issues.
• Constantly alert during all shifts for any situation that may jeopardize the safety of residents, staff, visitors, and the community.

Pay

$22.50 per hour.

Schedule

Part Time – 32 Hours, 2nd and 3rd Split Shifts.
