About the role
This position will function as a member of the Individual Placement and Support Supported Employment (IPS-SE) program within the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. IPS-SE is a community-based service which aims to assist individuals with serious mental illness to find and maintain competitive employment in the community, an essential component of individuals’ recovery.
Responsibilities
- Engagement – Providing information about employment and employment supports to encourage individuals to consider pursuing their vocational goals
- Assessment – Gathering information about individuals’ employment and educational histories, goals, and preferences to create a person-centered employment plan
- Job Development – Connecting and developing warm relationships with potential employers in the community to better understand their hiring needs and create opportunities for IPS-SE participants
- Job Search – Assisting individuals in exploring employment opportunities that match their preferences and goals
- Follow-Along Supports – Providing ongoing support to individuals after securing employment to promote success on the job and continue to make progress toward their personal goals
- Participate in IPS-SE team activities including weekly team meetings, treatment team meetings with behavioral health partners, and regular meetings with EIPD
- Timely completion of required service documentation
- May assist in outcomes tracking and reporting for the program
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related Human Services discipline and two years of experience related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience working with adults with mental illness
- Experience with Individual Placement and Support (IPS) or other supported employment models
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid NC Driver’s License
