Job Summary

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is seeking a full-time Human Resources Support Associate at the Knoxville main campus. This role supports day-to-day HR operations, assisting with onboarding, enrollment, and orientation for new hires, and handling various HR processes.

Job Duties

  • Supports day-to-day HR operations by assisting with employee onboarding, enrollment, and orientation for all new hires.

  • Completes Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) for employee changes and updates in Banner, maintains accurate personnel files, processes appointments for new faculty/staff and temporary employees, prepares annual renewal letters and temporary contracts.

  • Assists with monthly payroll processing and reconciliation, supports annual benefits activities such as new and annual enrollment, helps employees with retirement, benefits, and related personnel updates.

  • Gathers budget-related information and uses Excel spreadsheets to compile data, track status, and support reporting.

  • Affords support to recruitment activities, including job postings, attending job fairs, scheduling interviews, coordinating with interview committees, and supporting annual employee training tracking for Title VI and Title IX.

  • Contributes to internal and external personnel-related reports and surveys (e.g., IPEDS, TBR, State of Tennessee, Title VI, Title IX, and THEC) and ensures monthly leave reports and employee timesheets are submitted and balanced with leave requests.

  • Attends TBR meetings and training while maintaining a working knowledge of institutional and federal policies and COE accreditation standards, including FERPA and the ADA.

  • Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects, adapts to changing priorities, and meets institutional and departmental deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • A post-secondary technical diploma or an Associate’s degree
  • At least five years of related work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets

  • Handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality and discretion
  • Demonstrate strong computer proficiency, including Banner (college database), word processing, spreadsheet creation, email, and reporting
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to build and maintain positive working relationships within and outside the department
  • Remain composed and productive in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide strong interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, and student populations
  • Actively listen to students and employees, understand needs, and respond in a helpful and positive manner
  • Manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing assignments, and meet deadlines consistently
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to learn

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Sedentary desk work - Sitting for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks, reading, writing, etc.
  • Light physical activity - Walking around campus, standing for meetings or interactions, light lifting/carrying of files or supplies.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying - Moving boxes, equipment, or other items that may weigh up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate campus environments - Walking up/downstairs, traversing uneven surfaces, etc.

Salary

Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines. Salary range: $34,939 - $43,673.
