Key Responsibilities
- Support the HR Manager in coordinating HR programs, payroll operations, departmental initiatives, and strategic projects.
- Oversee payroll administration, including audits, timekeeping, salary funding updates, supplemental pay, and resolving payroll discrepancies while ensuring compliance.
- Serve as a primary HR and payroll resource for departments, providing guidance on personnel transactions, payroll procedures, leave, and HR operations.
- Manage and monitor payroll timelines, approvals, reporting, and employee compensation accuracy.
- Support leave administration, benefits, retirement, FMLA/FAMLI processes, and related payroll impacts in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Maintain HR systems and data platforms (HCM, Smartsheet, FIMS), ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and workforce metrics tracking.
- Develop dashboards, operational reports, and salary planning metrics to support leadership decision-making.
- Identify and implement HR process improvements, standardize workflows, and maintain updated procedures and documentation.
- Cover personnel administration activities such as promotions, salary approvals, position updates, job descriptions, personnel records, and employee relations coordination.
- Cover coordination of full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interview logistics, hiring coordination, and recruitment metrics tracking.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Four (4) years of professional level experience working in human resources, or another related position in higher education.
- Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of professional experience in human resources supervision within higher education or a similar organization.
- Three (3) years of general human resources experience including job recruitment, payroll processing and overseeing human resources functions including processing hires, terminations, and status changes.
- Experience using Oracle HCM and Finance systems.
- Prior experience in customer service capacity.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Experience working with CU and CU Medicine policies and procedures related to human resource management.
- Experience developing departmental procedures.
- Experience working in an academic medical center.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
- Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and collaborate across levels, functions, and geographic locations.
- Deep knowledge of HR processes, systems, and best practices, with the ability to translate HR needs into effective project and process solutions.
- High degree of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer-focused and service-oriented mindset, ensuring stakeholder needs are understood and projects are delivered with quality, clarity, and professionalism.
