About the role

The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources functions across the organization and serves as a resource to employees and managers. This position is responsible for supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, compliance, and HR programs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities, build strong relationships across departments, and support a growing and evolving organization.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding.
  • Coordinates new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Serves as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
  • Assists with employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.
  • Supports performance management processes, including performance reviews, goal setting, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
  • Administers employee changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and terminations.
  • Assists with benefits administration, enrollment, employee questions, and communication with benefit providers.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS information.
  • Supports training and employee development initiatives.
  • Assists with employee engagement, recognition, retention, events, and company culture initiatives.
  • Helps prepare HR reports and track key HR metrics, including turnover, headcount, recruiting activity, and employee trends.
  • Supports compensation and market analysis as needed.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Performs other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources or HR related field.
  • Bi-lingual, English/Spanish preferred.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong employee relations and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees and leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Professional, approachable, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have a current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activity on a frequent to constant basis: sit for long periods of time.
  • Lift 10–20 lbs. of files, plans, office supplies, or similar items.
  • Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the telephone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer.
  • Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site over the telephone.
  • Average, ordinary visual acuity is necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery.
  • Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
  • Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.

Working Conditions

  • Majority of work is performed in an office atmosphere located inside a building with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May require infrequent job site visits involve performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site.
  • May travel during the workday.

  • Represent the company in a professional manner to callers and visitors.
