About the role
The Town of Fort Mill, South Carolina, is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Human Resources Director to lead and modernize the organization’s human resources function during a period of significant growth and organizational evolution.
Responsibilities
- Leading all aspects of the Town’s human resources operations, including talent acquisition, compensation and classification, employee relations, organizational development, performance management, succession planning, and HR systems administration.
- Serving as a member of the executive leadership team and reporting directly to the Town Manager.
- Supervising three direct reports and working closely with Department Heads and the Finance Department to support organizational and fiscal objectives.
- Implementing and managing the Town’s 2026 Compensation Study.
- Supporting workforce growth following the addition of 29 positions over two fiscal years.
- Modernizing HR systems and analytics capabilities.
- Strengthening performance management practices.
- Developing sustainable personnel cost strategies.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred.
- At least seven to ten years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including leadership and supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience in local government or the public sector is strongly preferred.
