About the role
This position is based in our Clinton, MD offices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective talent retention strategies.
- Work closely with leadership to develop career development and succession plans.
- Ensure consistent application and compliance with company policies, procedures, and employment laws within the region.
- Communicate policy changes and updates effectively to all employees.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to assigned HR teams to align with overall HR and business objectives.
- Develop and execute HR strategies that drive organizational effectiveness and support business growth.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and address HR-related challenges and opportunities within the region.
- Drive organizational change initiatives and ensure effective communication and implementation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and provide guidance on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee grievance handling and the resolution of labor relations issues.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and employment regulations.
- Foster positive employee relations through proactive communication and engagement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit required HR reports and metrics to senior leadership and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to talent management, policy implementation, and employee relations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR are a plus.
- Proven experience as an HR Director or similar leadership role, preferably within a matrixed organization.
- In-depth knowledge of talent management practices, policy development, employment laws, and labor relations.
- Labor union experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve business goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
