The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a motivated and experienced professional who provides strategic HR support and guidance, executing and advising on key HR initiatives related to performance management, employee relations, compensation, talent management, talent acquisition, and policy interpretation. This critical role plays a pivotal part in the HR team, offering expert HR advice to line management, coaching leaders, and ensuring HR compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of strategic HR initiatives in partnership with the VP of People.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, coaching, career development, performance management, union contract interpretation, company policies, and regulations.
  • Partner with business leaders and union representatives to manage labor relations activities, including collective bargaining agreement interpretation, grievance resolution, disciplinary processes, and employee engagement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Provide expert HR advice and ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Foster a safe and comfortable environment for employees to discuss and resolve personnel issues.
  • Drive talent acquisition and retention, with a specific focus on diversity and inclusion.
  • Conduct new hire and exit interviews, providing feedback and analysis.
  • Help manage onboarding and new hire orientation.
  • Support and participate in the administration of the performance evaluation process, employee development, and diversity initiatives to improve team performance.
  • Facilitate employee dispute resolution processes, including ethics concerns and grievances.
  • Represent the company in contract negotiations, employee investigations, and mediations as appropriate.
  • Navigate the corporate and field environment by collaborating effectively and developing strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Support business leadership teams in setting strategy and business plans as appropriate.
  • Drive the effectiveness of the HR delivery model across the business.
  • Challenge and bring perspective to drive talent, performance, leadership, and DE&I initiatives.

Requirements

  • HR multidisciplinary experience in a challenging environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Travel throughout the tri-state region required.
  • Strong skills in talent acquisition, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Passion for supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • PHR or SPHR certification a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of learning and development, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and career development.
  • Highly organized and able to take initiative.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of HR legislation/employment law, principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 2+ years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Bilingual — English/Spanish required.

Working Conditions

  • Office-based role with potential for occasional visits to operational sites.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20%.
  • Attention to detail, organization skills, and the ability to work in various physical positions, including standing, sitting, and walking.
