Human Resources Assistant
About the role
The University of New Mexico Foundation seeks a Human Resources Assistant to support and enhance the employee experience through the effective administration of human resources programs and services. Reporting to the Managing Director of Human Resources and working closely with the Senior Associate Vice President of Human Resources and other HR team members, this position plays a key role in benefits administration, employee onboarding, engagement initiatives, HR communications, and departmental operations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and service-oriented professional who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is energized by the opportunity to be part of a collaborative energetic team that contributes not only to the Human Resources team, but to the broader mission and the success of the Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Administer human resources programs and services to support and enhance the employee experience
- Assist with benefits administration
- Support employee onboarding processes
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives
- Prepare and distribute HR communications
- Coordinate projects and support departmental operations
- Prepare reports, manage records, and support departmental initiatives
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service abilities
- Capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, vendors, and external partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and intermediate Excel functions such as data entry, sorting, filtering, and report preparation
- Experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and supporting a diverse workforce
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two (2) years of directly related experience
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience
Pay
The expected salary for this position is $40,000 – $45,000. The final salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and alignment with internal equity guidelines to ensure consistency across similar roles.
