Your Role

By exhibiting exceptional teamwork, boundless curiosity, and the utmost care, the Retail Human Resources Advisor will assist their team to fulfill Blick’s commitment to our customers, the Arts, and our local communities.

Primary Tasks

  • Partners with retail field leadership across four districts to deliver practical, business-focused human resources support.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to District Managers and Store General Managers, helping drive performance, strengthen employee engagement, and ensure consistent execution of HR programs, policies, and compliance across the organization.
  • Balances strategic partnership with hands-on execution, serving as the primary HR resource for day-to-day employee relations, talent management, and operational HR needs within the assigned regions.

Responsibilities

  • Field Partnership & Business Support:
    • Partner with District Managers to support stores across four districts, aligning HR strategies with business objectives.
    • Provide coaching and guidance to Store General Managers on performance management, employee engagement, and team effectiveness.
    • Travels to store locations to build relationships with teams, assess situations, and/or provide in-person support as able and needed.
    • Participates in district/regional calls and business reviews to identify people-related risks and opportunities.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
    • Conduct thorough, timely, and objective investigations; provide recommendations aligned with company policy and legal requirements.
    • Coaches leaders on consistent and appropriate application of policies and documentation.
  • Performance Management:
    • Support leaders in diagnosing performance issues and driving accountability through clear expectations and action plans.
    • Partners on progressive discipline, terminations, and complex performance situations.
    • Contributes to performance review cycles, ensuring consistency and quality across districts.
  • Talent & Workforce Planning:
    • Pairs with field leadership on hiring strategies, workforce planning, and succession planning.
    • Identifies talent gaps and supports development plans for key roles.
    • Collaborates with recruiting to improve candidate quality and hiring outcomes.
  • Training & Development:
    • Supports the rollout and reinforcement of training programs for Store General Managers and District Managers.
    • Coaches leaders on core management skills including feedback, coaching, and team development.
    • Identifies training needs based on trends in performance and employee relations.
  • Compliance & Policy Execution:
    • Ensures consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment laws across all locations.
    • Maintains compliance trends and proactively addresses risks.
    • Partners with HR and Legal teams on policy interpretation and updates.
  • HR Operations & Projects:
    • Supports implementation of HR initiatives, programs, and systems (e.g., performance management, engagement surveys, HRIS updates).
    • Analyzes HR metrics (turnover, engagement, retention, etc.) to inform action plans.
    • Contributes to cross-functional HR projects and continuous improvement efforts.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail or field environment.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including investigations and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at multiple levels.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws: Knowledge of employment laws relating to staffing and recruiting, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety training, and preventative labor relations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce or similar) and applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, approachable, and personable.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills: Ability to set priorities and organize time.
  • Demonstrates initiative and can work independently.
  • Strong computer skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively and discreetly deal with sensitive issues.
  • Willing to travel 50% or more.

Pay

The pay range below is provided in compliance with state/city specific laws. This pay range applies to this location. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
$85,000 - $100,000 per year + Annual Bonus
