About the Role
The Human Resources Assistant helps administer the day-to-day operations of the human resources department. This role focuses on creating a positive employee experience by ensuring team members feel engaged, supported, and valued. The HR Assistant supports various HR functions, including onboarding, HRIS administration, employee relations, and general HR tasks.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the onboarding process for all new hires, including verifying employment eligibility, background checks, pre-employment drug testing, motor vehicle record checks, and other position-specific requirements.
- Assist new hires with completing onboarding in the HRIS and complete employer sections.
- Make welcome calls to new hires and follow up throughout the onboarding process.
- Virtually verify I-9 documentation in accordance with USCIS guidelines.
- Present orientation for new hires, covering employee benefits, company policies, employee handbooks, and reporting requirements.
- Improve the onboarding experience by developing and implementing changes to the process, including applications, paperwork, screenings, orientation, and new hire materials.
- Collaborate with managers to create innovative ways to provide a delightful onboarding experience during the new hire’s first 365 days.
- Set up employee files in the HRIS: share documents, enter EEO data, configure time & labor settings, update the directory, enter company property info, and configure pay setup.
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Maintain all employee files in the HRIS and ensure relevant documents are uploaded.
- Assist in creating and updating job descriptions.
- Maintain the company directory with current phone numbers, email addresses, and pictures.
- Meet with employees and managers in accordance with the company’s open-door policy.
- Assist in facilitating company-wide and new-hire training.
- Create and send out surveys, including employee experience, exit interviews, and training surveys.
- Stay informed about law changes and best practices in human resources management.
- Assist the HR Manager with various research projects and special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is a plus.
- At least 1-2 years of customer service and administrative experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Ability to focus and stay on-task in a high-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations tactfully and professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Apple iOS products.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
- Ability to type at least 50-60 words per minute.
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check.

Pay
Hourly rate: $20 - $22 per hour.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, full-time, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
