About the Job
We are currently seeking a mid-career human health risk assessor, who is well-versed in EPA’s guidance and approach and can adapt to those requirements and those of other regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate is a clear writer and highly detail oriented. The position may require task management in the near-term and, with career growth, future opportunities to manage projects, communicate with clients, and present and/or publish your work through science conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Most assignments will require teamwork, though some project opportunities will be entirely your responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating environmental data for usability in quantitative human health risk assessments
- Performing exposure assessments for complete exposure pathways and estimating human health risks
- Executing technical work and preparing client work products
The ideal candidate will have:
- Master’s degree in environmental health sciences, toxicology, public health, or a related scientific discipline with 8+ years of experience in human health risk assessment, preferably in a consulting setting
- Experience working on project teams
- Demonstrated proficiency in site-specific exposure assessment and risk characterization in accordance with regulatory guidance and project-specific work plans
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing technical work products, including writing reports and performing/reviewing risk assessment calculations
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing proposals/scopes of work and cost estimation for human health risk assessments
- Experience working on CERCLA Superfund projects and state programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
- Strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
