Job Summary

The High Speed Trainset Electrical Technician troubleshoots and repairs electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on Amtrak’s High Speed Trainsets. This role involves performing inspections, monitoring systems, and training other mechanics.

Essential Functions

• Perform required inspections, troubleshoot systems, monitor systems, and determine required corrective action
• Train members of your craft and other Trainset mechanics in the operation and repair of systems and components
• Work in a team environment, performing other work as required regardless of classification to the level of their ability

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including the ability to troubleshoot using schematics, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools
• Experience performing electrical repairs, conducting functional tests on advanced electrical/electronic systems, and reading, drafting, and interpreting mechanical drawings
• Practical experience working with both A/C and D/C electrical systems in an industrial, transportation, or heavy-equipment environment
• Successful completion of the required High-Speed Rail (HSR) Training Program
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs

Communications and Interpersonal Skills

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Hourly Range

$37.91 – $44.60 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
