HSE Manager
Location: Chicago Heights, IL (supporting additional Illinois sites as required)
About The Role
As the HSE Manager, you will be a key member of the site leadership team, responsible for leading Health, Safety, Environmental, and Process Safety initiatives across our manufacturing and logistics operations at Chicago Heights, IL. This is a highly visible role where you'll influence culture, build capability, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement across multiple sites. You will provide strategic leadership while remaining hands-on in the development and implementation of HSE programs that protect our people, assets, and reputation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the site HSE team, fostering a strong culture of safety and accountability.
- Drive HSE strategy, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with operational leaders.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk management, environmental programs, and HSE management systems.
- Provide expert leadership in Process Safety Management (PSM), including PHAs, MOCs, mechanical integrity, and incident investigations.
- Monitor and communicate HSE performance metrics, driving proactive improvement actions.
- Build strong relationships with regulatory agencies, emergency services, industry groups, and local communities.
- Coach and mentor leaders and teams to achieve sustainable safety and operational excellence outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of HSE experience within a chemical manufacturing or similarly regulated industrial environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing across multiple sites.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, environmental management, and process safety requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in Process Safety Management and risk reduction programs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Experience working with regulatory bodies and driving organizational change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, or CIH.
- Experience in ISO 14001, Lean Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and behavioral safety programs.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $145,000 to $184,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
