Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Developing and implementing a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses through area assessments, injury investigations, and clear, measurable goals.
- Correcting working conditions by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety standards to develop loss control programs and devise methods to evaluate safety progress.
- Assessing and leveraging HSE best practices across sites.
- Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in accordance with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, reporting performance to top management and recommending improvements.
- Serving as the interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, corporate, and insurance carriers to ensure plant compliance.
- Managing plant’s environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
- Creating and managing budgets for HSE activities including consulting and testing, waste removal, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc.
- Leading investigations on environmental non-compliance, safety non-compliance, and root cause incidents and providing urgent response to operational issues.
- Leading implementations and use of team implemented problem solving.
- Conducting site audits and evaluating plant’s compliance with environmental regulations and identifying areas of improvement.
- Implementing environmental solutions and driving changes in manufacturing processes/systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams.
- Managing worker’s compensation claims.
- Leading safety, HSE, and awareness program trainings.
- Performing other tasks, duties, or special projects as directed.
Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of HSE experience in manufacturing and/or production industry.

- Health and Safety Expertise: Behavior based safety, preferably DuPont STOP, Chemical hazard communication, Contractor safety, Confined space entry, Electrical safety, Emergency response planning, Ergonomics, Fall protection, Hazardous energy control - Lock Out/Tag Out, Hearing conservation, Incident investigation, Indoor air quality/industrial hygiene, Injury reporting and analysis, Job hazard analysis and risk assessments, Machine guarding, Personal protective equipment, Powered industrial vehicles, Safety programs and awareness, and OSHA compliance.
- Environmental Expertise: Sustainable processes/recycling, Solid and hazardous waste management, Wastewater and storm water management, permitting, compliance, and controls, Air emission management, permitting, compliance, and controls, Pollution prevention and resource conservation.
