As a High School Language Arts Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
• Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Maximize educational achievement for each student using a variety of instructional modalities and differentiated instruction.
• Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments of student learning, provide activities to address needs, and generate progress reports.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required and prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share insights for continual curriculum improvement.
• Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process and the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
• Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable classroom/playground behavior rules.
• Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and participate in curriculum planning with staff.
• Incorporate diagnostic information from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into instructional planning.
• Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities for effective instruction.
• Establish cooperative relations with parents/guardians and communicate clearly and positively via appropriate mediums.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
• Engage in extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to company values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual school conditions. The environment may be noisy during high student traffic.
