About the Role
This position reports to the Head Coach and Athletic Director, supporting the Norwalk Community School District's athletics program.
Responsibilities
- Instructs athletes regarding techniques, rules, and safety practices of the sport.
- Develops and organizes practice programs.
- Schedules and conducts practices according to agreed-upon schedules.
- Supervises athletes from the scheduled beginning of practice or game until the last athlete leaves, ensuring awareness of all participants' whereabouts at all times.
- Supervises athletes on buses during trips to other schools.
- Promotes the entire Norwalk Athletics program.
- Sets an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct, including respecting and supporting contest officials.
- Fosters among participants and spectators an appreciation of athletics' values, good sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community.
- Promotes a healthy lifestyle to student athletes.
- Assists the head coach and athletic director in preparing and maintaining lists of eligible players under Norwalk CSD rules.
- Ensures all athletes have completed and submitted required documentation, including medical insurance forms and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season.
- Communicates with parents regarding team rules and athletic department guidelines.
- Knows and understands Norwalk Athletic Department rules and regulations.
- Adheres to all safety laws and district policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach and Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Coaching Authorization or license required.

Physical Requirements
- Walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting a minimum of 20 pounds, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and stooping.

Terms of Employment
Yearly contract issued. Evaluation performed annually by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director. FLSA Status: Non-exempt.
