As a High School English Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, build effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge aligned with their abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
• Presents subject matter effectively to maximize learning and provides differentiated instruction using a variety of student learning modalities.
• Reviews student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
• Maximizes educational achievement for each student through frequent diagnostic assessments, progress reports, and tailored activities.
• Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
• Coordinates class field trips as required and prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stays current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing insights for continual curriculum improvement.
• Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process and the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests, and ensures it is clean, safe, and displays student work.
• Implements relevant policies governing student conduct and develops reasonable classroom/playground behavior rules in accordance with CSUSA policy.
• Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and participates in curriculum planning with other staff members.
• Incorporates diagnostic information from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into instructional planning.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities needed for the instructional program.
• Establishes cooperative relations with parents/guardians, communicating clearly, consistently, and positively via appropriate mediums.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and cooperates with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
• Participates in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to company values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual school conditions. The environment may be noisy during high student traffic periods.
