HR Business Partner General Responsibilities
The Human Resource Business Partner plays a key role in driving a positive culture throughout the organization by delivering exceptional HR services focused on employee growth, development, and fostering an outstanding workplace experience. This HR role functions in a broad HR capacity, leveraging expertise in multiple HR areas including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, workers’ compensation, employee development, and leadership coaching. The HR Business Partner supports day-to-day HR operations and ensures a consistent, compliant, and positive employee experience. This role provides HR support by building trusted relationships with club-level leaders across multiple Planet Fitness locations within the assigned territory. The HR Business Partner helps implement effective HR practices and fosters a people-first culture that supports both employee and organizational success.
Anticipated Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply HR policy and procedure to ensure practices are fair and consistent across the organization.
- Manage the investigation and resolution processes for employee relations situations.
- Support and guide club leadership by providing direction, advice and counsel regarding employment and personnel matters.
- Provide training related to HR practices and club leadership development.
- Aid leaders with performance coaching, evaluation and development processes.
- Utilize the HR information system to collect, prepare and analyze HR data to identify opportunities to improve retention and enhance employee experiences.
- Ensure that Local/State/Federal employment regulations and standards are followed and respond to regulatory inquiries (EEO, HRC, DOL, etc.).
- Manage and maintain the HR compliance scorecard for the region.
- Ensure proper interviewing and hiring processes are being consistently maintained and managed across the organization.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience with 3+ years in HR or related roles.
- (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP preferred)
- Knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and employee relations practices.
- Ability to proactively identify problems and take action with limited oversight.
- Prior experience investigating employee relations matters.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the overall business operation.
- Previous experience supporting multi-location operations.
- Ability to travel to different markets on a regular basis.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Must be able to effectively and independently anticipate, identify, solve, and follow-through on problems.
- Willing to get your hands dirty and take on an assortment of roles and tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- You should be human in all communication - whether one-on-one or company-wide - but also recognize the need for nuanced messaging and matching tone to the task and audience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and business products including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
