Job Summary

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the state’s image.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and implement human resource policies and procedures.
• Oversee recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of staff.
• Develop and administer compensation plans and benefits programs.
• Provide guidance and support to managers on personnel issues.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.
• Coordinate employee relations and resolve conflicts.
• Prepare reports and maintain records related to human resources activities.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field is preferred.
• At least five years of professional experience in human resources or a related field.
