HR Payroll Adjustment and Leave Pay Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and processes benefit premium adjustments ensuring year-end data is accurate.
  • Reviews and processes benefit adjustments, including daily, weekly, and payroll-specific reports to determine if adjustments are needed.
  • Performs audits to identify and adjust premium deductions for employees with pay group changes.
  • Processes employee data corrections related to premium deduction errors.
  • Evaluates and processes payroll for leave plans such as Caregiver Leave, Parental Leave, and Short-Term Disability.
  • Validates and reconciles monthly reporting from leave vendors.
  • Analyzes data to identify improvement recommendations, developing and analyzing queries and spreadsheets to streamline processes and improve outcomes.
  • Recommends changes in policies or procedures regarding benefit premium adjustments and payroll for leave plans.
  • Provides customer service and problem-solving regarding paycheck deduction questions with emphasis on premium deductions and paycheck questions with emphasis on pay related to leave plans.
  • Escalates complex issues to payroll and/or leave managers, payroll director, or direct supervisor.
  • Responds to inquiries within 48-72 hours and maintains documentation and process tickets for accurate tracking of issues and resolutions.
  • Uses good judgment, analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Excel macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables, and continually learns payroll processes, tax laws, benefit and retirement plans, HIPPA, and University of Missouri policies.
  • Participates on process and policy work teams, contributing knowledge of PeopleSoft payroll and benefit processes.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration and experience demonstrating knowledge of basic tax laws, exceptional customer service, and organizational skills, and proficient computer skills in Excel macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables. PeopleSoft experience is helpful.
  • Demonstrated experience with providing exceptional verbal and written communication to a variety of customers, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow through independently.
  • Familiarity with university systems and human resources policies or equivalent.

Pay

Salary Range: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Grade: GGS 009
University Title: Human Resources Specialist III
