Permanent role based in Washington offering £35k – £38.1k per annum, depending on experience, with early finish Fridays.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Officer to deliver a high-quality HR service that supports both operational and business objectives. This is a broad generalist role covering the full employee lifecycle, providing expert advice, managing employee relations matters, supporting recruitment activities, and driving continuous improvement across HR processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, investigations, and performance issues.
  • Provide timely and practical HR advice to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and employment law.
  • Review, develop, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding activities across the business.
  • Support sickness absence management, occupational health processes, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
  • Produce HR reports and workforce data to support business decision-making.
  • Deliver training and coaching to managers on HR best practice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application.
  • Experience advising managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • HR qualification or equivalent experience; CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) desirable.
  • Experience with occupational health, wellbeing initiatives, payroll support, HR reporting, and manager training.

Pay

£35,000 – £38,100 per annum, depending on experience.
