We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join the HR team at Georgia-Pacific’s Leaf River Cellulose facility in New Augusta, MS. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building company culture, organizational capability, strategic partnering with operations leaders and supervisors, and contributing to business transformation.

About the role

This leader will create and execute strategies to advance business priorities, build and maintain an advantaged talent position, and ensure compliance with all labor laws and standards. A successful candidate will proactively seek and share knowledge, provide respectful challenge to ideas as a thought partner, and build business partner capability within the HR organization to advance culture and results. This is an onsite role requiring residence in the New Augusta, MS area or willingness to relocate.

About the team

The HR Manager will lead the Leaf River HR team and support the Leaf River Operations team. Leaf River is a nonunion facility in South Mississippi, 20 miles from Hattiesburg, with a dedicated workforce of about 320 employees. The team has focused on producing top-quality chemical cellulose, custom fibers, and non-woven materials for products like diapers, baby wipes, and coffee filters for 40 years. As part of Georgia-Pacific’s Cellulose business, Leaf River exemplifies safety, operational, and environmental excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Create a competitive advantage for the site by supporting the advancement and application of Principle Based Management across the business.
  • Build effective working relationships centered on trust through practical and strategic guidance to leaders and supervisors across the mill.
  • Partner with the HR team and mill leadership to advance facility and company vision, priorities, and strategies.
  • Own the strategic plan for building an advantaged talent position alongside facility leadership teams.
  • Deploy strong economic thinking capabilities (financial acumen, risk optimization, marginal analysis, etc.).
  • Understand key business drivers and priorities to formulate and execute appropriate solutions.
  • Use data analytics to drive labor optimization efforts.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that enable attainment and advancement of business strategy, including talent, organizational change, organizational design, and incentives.
  • Leverage and build preferred partnerships with capabilities to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Design, build, and enhance leadership teams and elevate leader performance.
  • Partner with site leaders in performance management, succession planning, organizational development, and change management.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to continually enhance employee skills and capabilities.
  • Provide guidance to leaders to ensure compliance with all labor laws and standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with HR-related processes, including culture development, selection, performance management, and talent/organizational planning.
  • Experience as an HR Manager or HR Business Partner.
  • Experience supporting site leadership teams directly.
  • Experience influencing and coaching leaders within a business environment.

Qualifications

The following will put you ahead:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory role developing HR teams and professionals.
  • Experience with data analytics, including analyzing data and pulling reports to execute on opportunities.
