HR M&A Manager
About the Role
The Merger & Acquisition (M&A) Human Resources Business Partner serves as a secondary liaison across the talent organization and corporate development teams from initial due diligence to coordinating with centers of excellence to ensure a successful transition through integration. The role involves working with the Deputy Chief Talent Officer and the potential merging firm to build relationships, participate in cross-functional teams, and provide HR coaching throughout the transaction process. The ideal candidate will manage expectations and deliverables with the deal team, merging firm, and talent organization, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, integrative thinking, attention to detail, and adaptability in a dynamic environment. Due to the global impact of this role, flexibility to work non-standard business hours is required.
Responsibilities
- Manage the completion of HR activities during the due diligence phase, including reviewing data transaction materials to identify policy similarities and differences.
- Apply knowledge of RSM firm policies, employment law, and merging firm’s policies to ensure compliance and identify potential deal breakers.
- Collaborate with leadership and Centers of Excellence (COE) to resolve policy differences while maintaining consistency with firm practices.
- Leverage internal resources during due diligence and identify target firm employees who should not transition due to performance or role redundancy.
- Assist in producing the HR due diligence report and project manage multiple work streams to meet deadlines.
- Build relationships with internal leadership, COE teams, and merging firm leadership to resolve conflicts during acquisition or divestiture activities.
- Serve as a liaison between the deal team, internal COEs, and the talent organization to ensure data documentation is obtained and shared for review.
- Provide pre-deal and post-deal HR advice and collaborate with COEs to communicate effectively with deal teams and talent leaders.
- Manage talent-related M&A activities from due diligence through implementation and divestitures, including project planning and milestone accountability.
- Coordinate M&A meetings, calls, and deliverables such as communication plans, announcement dates, and integration events for merging firm employees.
- Ensure process standardization and propose automation where possible.
- Understand talent processes (performance management, compensation, payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, Learning & Development) and their interdependencies with other functions (IT, finance, accounting, marketing, communications).
- Assist in developing and improving talent process documentation.
Qualifications
