HR Lead

About the role

Trucco, recently joined by Gruppo Orsero—a leader in Mediterranean Europe for high-quality fresh fruit and vegetable distribution with €1.7 billion in revenue—is seeking an HR Lead for our Bronx, New York headquarters. This role will build Trucco's HR foundations from the ground up across both our Bronx office and New Jersey warehouse, reporting directly to Trucco's CEO. Based on performance, this position offers a clear path to grow into a Director of Human Resources role, including building and leading your own team as Trucco's HR function expands.

Work location: Bronx, New York (with responsibility for the New Jersey warehouse site).

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle recruitment for open roles: job postings, applicant screening, interviews, and offer coordination.
• Own onboarding and offboarding for both the Bronx office and the New Jersey warehouse.
• Maintain employee records, HR systems, and day-to-day HR reporting.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employees on HR questions, policies, and benefits.
• Support payroll, timecard, PTO, and leave administration, coordinating with external providers as needed.
• Begin shaping early-stage HR policies, employee relations practices, and performance review processes.
• Act as a direct HR partner to Trucco’s leadership team as the HR function takes shape.
• Build a bridge between Trucco’s HR practices and Gruppo Orsero’s people and culture initiatives across Europe.

Requirements

• A few years of experience in an HR generalist, coordinator, or similar role, ideally in a small or growing company.
• Working familiarity with U.S. HR practices, including recruitment, onboarding, and basic payroll/benefits concepts.
• Genuine ambition and potential to grow into a people leadership role over time.
• Highly organized and comfortable managing several priorities at once across two work sites.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment in handling sensitive employee matters.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a growing, still-developing organization.
• Experience with New York and/or New Jersey employment practices is a plus, though not required.

Pay

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
