Houston 62 (Tuckerton) Seafood - Perishables Rep - Part time

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service; take orders by telephone or in person and answer product questions to assist customers with selections.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product daily; slice, package, label, and rotate products; scan items on Telxon for production; assist in technical areas as needed.
• Merchandise product effectively using suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales; make regular announcements about freshly-produced items and promotions.
• Clean and sanitize display cases; properly operate and maintain equipment; comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards and departmental SOPs.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Aguas: Peel, cut, and chop fresh fruits and vegetables; prepare fresh specialty drinks and food products specific to the Aguas department.
• Floral: Design floral arrangements; provide a variety of fresh, quality products; design and execute merchandising programs; track seasonal records as appropriate.
• Meat/Market: Cut, trim, and prepare meat for service counters; ensure proper product rotation and storage; maintain coolers and freezers; weigh, price, and package selections; operate power meat prep and processing equipment.
• Produce: Stock and rotate product to ensure freshness; assist floral department when needed; communicate product knowledge to customers; cut, wrap, and price produce for the sales floor; maintain signing program.
• Seafood: Demonstrate knowledge of various fish and shellfish; weigh, price, and package selections; maintain coolers and freezers.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• Minimum age: 18+
• Education: High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Licenses/Certifications: Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training.
• Work Experience: Customer service and communication skills; familiarity with computer systems such as Telxon, ACR, and label machines.
• Skills: Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, reading, writing, planning, and organizing skills.

Market/Meat Department:

• Constantly: reach at waist.

• Occasionally: be exposed to hot conditions, ambient temperatures, loud noise.
• Ability to lift 90 lbs and manage loads in excess of 90 lbs.

Seafood Department:

• Constantly: reach at waist.
• Frequently: stand, walk, pivot, push/pull with arms, grasp.
• Frequently: be exposed to wet, cold conditions.
• Occasionally: reach overhead, reach at shoulder, knees, and floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, twist, pinch, perform fine motor movements, cervical flexion.
• Occasionally: be exposed to hot conditions, ambient temperatures, loud noise.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and manage loads in excess of 50 lbs.

Definitions: “Constantly” = 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day; “Frequently” = 2.5–5.5 hours per 8-hour day; “Occasionally” = 0–2.5 hours per 8-hour day. Partners must never lift beyond their safe limit; break down heavy items or request assistance when needed.
