Houston 52 (Vintage) Deli - Overnight Food Service Rep - Part time

Responsibilities

• Provides superior customer service
• Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
• Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections
• Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
• Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
• Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
• Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
• Cleans and sanitizes display cases
• Operates / maintains equipment properly
• Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
• Complies with department / Store operating procedures
• Records production and shrink to aid in production planning
• Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., baking, frying, and decorating)
• Culls bakery products for poor quality, expiration dates
• Takes care of service counter
• Uses ordering system applications
• Uses Fresh Production Planner
• Performs inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required
• If applicable, ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for customer pickup
• Performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for Deli slicers
• Serves / packages products at customer's request
• Educates customers on preparation / reheating instructions of prepared foods
• Prepackages condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items
• Cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef

Requirements

• Age requirement: 18+
• Physical demands: Function in a fast-paced, retail environment performing detailed and precise tasks; ability to lift 50 lbs (Bakery) or 55 lbs (Deli) and manage in excess of 70 lbs (Bakery) or 65 lbs (Deli); constant reaching at waist, grasp; frequent standing, walking, reaching at shoulder, bending, stooping; occasional reaching overhead, reaching at knee, reaching at floor, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, pushing/pulling with arms, pinching, fine motor movements, shoulder abduction; occasional exposure to wet, cold, hot conditions, loud noise; must not exceed safe lifting limit; may break down loads or ask for assistance.

Qualifications

• Work Experience: Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine) – Required
• Education: HS Diploma or GED or equivalent – Required
• Licenses/Certifications: Completion of Company Orientation – Required; Food safety and sanitation training – upon hire – Required
