Housing Specialist - HOPE

About the role

The Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Specialist at NARA Northwest provides community and home-based housing support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Services focus on helping these individuals achieve long-term housing stability, end their homelessness, and improve their health and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Create an individualized housing plan with program participants to identify needs, barriers, and resources for achieving stability.
  • Aid program participants through the housing application process, addressing barriers to housing approval, and securing necessary funding for move-in costs and furnishings.
  • Collaborate with other providers and support systems to address clients' needs, including initiating clinical consultations and coordinating ongoing support services.
  • Utilize strengths-based case management and motivational interviewing to engage clients, set goals, and help them achieve those goals.
  • Develop positive relationships with property managers and external service providers to support clients in maintaining their housing and preventing evictions.
  • Be responsive to property managers regarding any issues that arise, ensuring clients can maintain their housing and avoid eviction.
  • Follow up with property managers to monitor the outcomes of any interventions needed.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a related field such as social work, psychology, public health, or a related field, and at least one year of relevant experience in housing services or a related field. Experience working with homeless populations, knowledge of housing first principles, and strong communication and problem-solving skills are preferred.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to improving the lives of others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a valid driver's license are also required.

Skills

Strong skills in case management, motivational interviewing, and housing first principles are essential. Candidates should also be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $26.09 - $35.70 per hour, non-exempt.

Schedule

This role requires an in-person schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
