About the role
The Housing Specialist for the Bridge Crisis program works for a non-profit organization dedicated to helping military veterans and their families achieve housing stability and independence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and constant housing assessments of clients, tracking and reporting their progress.
- Maintain participant confidentiality at all times.
- Obtain all mandatory housing supporting documentation for case files.
- Conduct rent reasonable testing in accordance with requirements and ensure documentation is maintained.
- Complete accurate and timely data entry into the HMIS system.
- Care for participants' holistic wellbeing by coordinating care with case managers, VA personnel, and others.
- Build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with participants and community agencies.
- Develop and maintain collaborations with landlords and property managers.
- Recruit property owners to collaborate in the placements of participants with high housing barriers.
- Transport clients to resources they require in the community.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social services field or related field required, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.
- Experience working with homeless and/or veterans preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Able to work within a team.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course.
