About the Role

Serve as a positive role model to students and peer staff members. Enforce the rules and policies of Housing and interpret and disseminate information or directives from Housing to students. Provide informal guidance to students regarding school and social life. Work with students to maintain the upkeep of individual rooms and perform light housekeeping duties in designated areas.

Responsibilities

  • Inform the Director in writing of any problems, social or otherwise, that students may be experiencing.
  • Report emergencies to security, monitor situations, and refer students to appropriate campus services as needed.
  • Secure dorms at designated times and inspect halls for alcoholic beverages, drugs, and unauthorized guests.
  • Inspect halls daily for cleanliness, supplies, and needed repairs; perform weekly dorm inspections with students.
  • Assess the physical condition of rooms before and after occupancy, preparing and filing appropriate forms with Housing staff in a timely manner.
  • Work cooperatively with students to foster an environment of respect, privacy, and consideration in a group living setting.
  • Respond to all witnessed violations of Housing Director and UTTC policies within the residence hall and submit reports to Security and the Housing Director within 24 hours.
  • Receive and process requests for maintenance repairs and custodial needs from students promptly.
  • Thoroughly review Resident Hall Regulations and dorm agreements individually with each new resident.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of report writing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be certified in CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of employment (provided by UTTC).
  • Ability to relate well to individuals of all ethnic, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, promoting cultural diversity and understanding.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs, lift 30 lbs, and sit for long periods of time.

Schedule

Shift work outside normal working hours of Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Shifts may include early morning, late morning, evening, night, and rotating shifts. Additional hours, weekends, and holidays may be required. Includes a one-hour unpaid lunch or a working paid lunch.

Pay

$15.00 per hour.
