Housing Director – Bristol, VA

About the role

The Housing Director oversees the management of public housing units, a housing choice voucher program, LIHTC units, and market properties managed by the Bristol Redevelopment and Housing Authority (BRHA).

Responsibilities

• Oversight and development of housing programs
• Supervision of a small staff
• Management of tenant applications, waiting list, placements, tenant management, policy enforcement, evictions, and other related issues
• Overseeing public housing and managing HUD policies and regulations
• Familiarity with LIHTC properties, mixed finance, and HUD’s Moving to Work program
• Experience with supervision
• Responding with compassion and empathy in dealing with the public and residents
• Direct involvement in demanding situations with professionalism and dignity
• A key role in assisting those in need of safe, attractive, and affordable housing

Qualifications

• Significant experience in public housing
• Thorough knowledge of HUD policies and regulations
• Familiarity with LIHTC properties, mixed finance, and HUD’s Moving to Work program
• Experience with supervision
