Housing Advocate
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Housing Advocate to join our team in Attleboro, MA. The Housing Advocate will work directly with individuals and families experiencing housing instability or homelessness, providing support, resources, and guidance to help secure safe and stable housing.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid clients in identifying and securing affordable housing options.
- Provide advocacy and support during housing application processes, including completing paperwork and communicating with landlords or housing agencies.
- Conduct intake assessments to determine client needs and eligibility for housing programs.
- Develop individualized housing plans in collaboration with clients and partner organizations.
- Connect clients with community resources such as financial assistance, counseling, and social services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and case notes.
- Collaborate with local agencies, landlords, and service providers to promote housing stability.
- Participate in outreach efforts to identify individuals and families in need of housing assistance.
- Stay informed about local housing policies, programs, and resources.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with homeless or housing-insecure populations is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of local housing resources, programs, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
Pay and Schedule
Salary Range: $22.80-$25.66/hourly
Scheduled working hours: 35 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Tuesday, Thursday: 12:00 PM- 7:00 PM
Includes rotating holiday coverage, hotline shifts, and on-call responsibilities as assigned.
