Housekeeping Worker

Part-time night shift position at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

About the role

The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and supplying patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other assigned areas in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and Medical Center objectives.

Responsibilities

• Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs
• Assist in cleaning emergency spills observed or upon request
• Clean housekeeping closet and maintain par levels
• Collect and transport all waste, including regulated medical waste (RMW), according to policy
• Compact trash or place in containers
• Damp buff and shampoo carpets with approved equipment
• Dry and wet mop floors of rooms and offices
• Dust mop and wet mop corridors, stairwells, and other common areas
• Empty waste receptacles and remove trash
• Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and arrange repairs when needed
• Observe and report the need to repair equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures
• Perform patient discharge cleaning using a 7-step cleaning procedure
• Refill paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and toilet seat dispensers
• Ensure all patient rooms are patient-ready at all times, including tent card placement, toilet seat bands, and privacy curtains

Qualifications

• Successful completion of general and department-specific orientation (required)
• High School Diploma (preferred)
• Previous hospital housekeeping experience (preferred)

Schedule

• Part-time, night shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend and holiday work required

Pay

$20.68 per hour
