Job Summary
Part-Time | 16 Hours Per Week
Compensation is based on experience. Candidates with no prior experience may start at $17.50 per hour.
Essential Functions
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned patient rooms, public areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, and other designated spaces in accordance with departmental standards.
- Collects, removes, and properly disposes of trash and waste materials following established procedures.
- Sanitizes surfaces, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment using approved cleaning products and methods.
- Stocks paper products, cleaning solutions, personal protective equipment, and other supplies in assigned areas as needed.
- Maintains assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Utilizes bed management systems and handheld technology to support room turnover activities and patient throughput.
- Operates cleaning carts, trash carts, and other environmental services equipment safely and effectively.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention practices, isolation precautions, and environmental cleaning procedures.
- Maintains compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and infection prevention requirements.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of environmental services principles, practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboard and mouse operation.
- Ability to operate computers and standard software applications used within the department.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, reports, and departmental documentation.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices, isolation procedures, and environmental cleaning standards.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals, equipment, waste materials, and supplies.
- Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Environmental services experience within a healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of additional languages preferred.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Field of Study N/A
Work Experience
Previous housekeeping, custodial, environmental services, or related experience preferred.
