Housekeeping/Laundry Aide

About the role

The Housekeeping and Laundry Aide performs day-to-day operations of the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities

• Follow cleaning schedules as outlined by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, no matter how minor.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, and bathroom fixtures.
• Clean, wash, and sanitize laundry.
• Clean floors daily: sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
• Adhere to facility procedures to discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Utilize proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions; refer to manufacturer’s instructions when necessary.
• Ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials, hazardous wastes, or chemicals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, and disinfecting solutions.
• Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents based on their current maturity level.
• Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
