About the Role
As an EVS Associate - In Patient, you perform daily cleaning tasks in patient areas, offices, public spaces, and other non-patient areas. This includes daily cleaning, equipment cleaning, and project cleaning in an assigned area. You are responsible for respectful and compassionate communication and interaction with our customers as a member of the healthcare team. Assignments may include NICU, PACU, ICU, Inpatient Unit-Based Cleaner, Float Team, Discharge Team, Runner, and duties of EVS Assoc-Public.
Responsibilities
- Performs multiple-step cleaning procedures, including daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, discharge bed making, O.R. cleaning, between-case cleaning, upholstery, wall, and glass care.
- Continues work from the previous shift, reports all incomplete assignments, and identifies maintenance issues.
- Performs dry mopping and wet mopping of common areas using appropriate equipment, including floor care machines.
- Performs floor and carpet care techniques, such as carpet bonneting and extracting.
- Responds to stat orders, including discharges, spills, floods, and hospital-wide emergency drills.
- Cleans up organic body waste (e.g., blood, feces, sputum, and urine).
- Cleans patient equipment, including IV poles, commodes, monitors and cables, specialty equipment, stretchers, wheelchairs, and cardiac chairs.
- Assists in moves, special set-ups, and other occasions as needed.
- Collects solid and contaminated waste, seals boxes used for contaminated waste, and delivers them to designated areas or the compactor.
- Uses department procedures for preparing and selecting cleaning solutions.
- Reports low supply inventory to supervisor and/or team leader.
- Signs equipment in and out of designated storage areas, keeps the housekeeping cart clean, stocked, and orderly.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and/or team leader.
- Delivers soiled mops, cleaning cloths, and linen to designated areas.
Requirements
- Some high school education required.
- 0-1 years of related work experience.
- Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications.

Physical Demands
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical, requiring standing and/or moving around for the majority of the shift.
Pay
The base hourly pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.88. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices.
Additional Requirements
As a health care organization, all staff are required to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
