About the role

The Housekeeper helps create a joyful and vibrant community by maintaining a beautiful environment, keeping the community tidy, clean, sanitary, and pleasing to the senses.

Responsibilities

  • Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Follows established Infection Control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
  • Operates and maintains all housekeeping/laundry equipment (e.g., commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines).
  • Works safely and recognizes potentially dangerous situations.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
  • Stays current on system-assigned tasks and duties.
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Maintains current food handler’s card.

Physical demands

  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; lifting 25–40 pounds constantly.
  • Frequent reaching below shoulder height.
  • Occasional kneeling, stooping, and squatting.
  • Stand six out of eight hours.
