Housekeeping - Environmental Services Attendant (Part-Time)

About the role
The EVS Attendant is responsible for attending to the cleaning and stocking needs of assigned area(s) of the property. This position relies on limited experience, instructions, pre-established guidelines, and good judgment to perform the functions of the job.
Responsibilities
- Support and uphold Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
- Dust, sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, clean, and empty waste in assigned areas including but not limited to all floors, stairwells, parking lots, elevators, driving surfaces, furniture, draperies, wastebaskets, ashtrays, trash, and linen.
- Assist in minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs and unplugging toilets; report problems needing further attention to the Lead EVS Attendant or Housekeeping management.
- Stock and maintain housekeeping storage rooms, restocking and requesting supplies as needed.
- Routinely inspect work areas, identify potential problems or repair needs, and notify the Housekeeping Office for maintenance scheduling.
- Properly tag lost and found items and deliver them to the Housekeeping Office for storage.
- Facilitate the flow of information throughout the department by attending regularly scheduled meetings with team members on assigned shift.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company facilities and special events on property to advise guests and fellow team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Conduct all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
- Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
- Adhere to performance standards, company policies, and procedures as they relate to the department.
Requirements
- Ability to understand oral and verbal communication while using Valley View Casino & Hotel’s communication tools, including radios and cell phones.
- Ability to speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals written in English.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form referring to established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to define problems involving several concrete variables, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations (fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions).
- Use good judgment when providing information to guests and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
- Must successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing and a drug screening test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hospitality experience.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) for navigating office and casino environments, reading reports and policies, and operating data processing equipment.
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- May be required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
- Must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
- The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week; flexibility to work any and all shifts is required.
- Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts, risk of radiation from computers, and fumes or airborne particles.
- Usually subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
