About the Role
Performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas. Performs special projects and environmental services duties to maintain the facility in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition. Follows procedures for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

Responsibilities

Environmental Cleanliness
- Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, baths, offices, halls, and other areas according to established standards.
- Maintains cleanliness to limit cross-infection.
- Washes walls, furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with appropriate cleaning solutions.
- Removes trash and waste, refills dispensers following infection control practices.
- Notifies supervisor of low supply levels or equipment malfunctions.
- Follows all safety guidelines to maintain safe conditions.

Floor Maintenance
- Sweeps, mops, and applies floor finishes as required.
- Vacuums and spot-cleans carpets using appropriate solutions.
- Operates mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment.

Work Organization
- Completes all assigned work during the shift without sacrificing quality.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Coordinates daily tasks to optimize time use.
- Completes work left from previous shifts and reports incomplete assignments.

Sanitation & Equipment Use
- Demonstrates knowledge of sanitation, disinfectants, and safety standards.
- Operates cleaning equipment competently and safely.
- Disposes of materials according to policy guidelines.
- Follows isolation and asepsis techniques per departmental procedures.
- Uses supplies and equipment within manufacturers' guidelines.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Housekeeping experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Able to understand and carry out instructions.
- Able to identify and follow directions for chemicals used in duties.
- Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision.
Physical Demand: Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Additional Requirements
- HIPAA: Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations, including patient demographics.
- Safety: Maintains knowledge of and adherence to safety practices, including incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps, linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, and patient identification.
