Responsibilities

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas, including:
    • Operates cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, polisher)
    • Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture
    • Washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls, lavatories, etc.
    • Washes and replaces window treatments, cleans ceiling fixtures, changes light bulbs, and moves room partitions using ladders and scaffolds
    • Moves furniture to clean under and behind, uses step stool to clean windows, cabinet tops, mirrors, and picture frames
    • Cleans bathroom areas (tub, tile walls, commode, floors, vanity)
    • Cleans kitchen area (stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, floor)
    • Washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware
    • Cleans iron and ironing board, replaces cover as necessary
    • Ensures proper functionality of luggage racks, hangers, TVs, alarm clocks, and in-room phones
    • Places proper number of amenities in rooms (consumables and non-consumables)
    • Removes and replaces bed linen, inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas, repositions beds upon guest checkout or request
  • Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations while ensuring privacy and security
  • Cleans, vacuums, and mops corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios, and balconies
  • Shampoos rugs, carpets, and polishes stairway rails on a regular basis
  • Performs deep cleaning as required (e.g., scheduled basis, pet-friendly rooms, ADA service animal rooms), including defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows inside and out, carpet cleaning, shampooing, spot treatment, and cleaning walls
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms
  • Communicates the status of cleaned rooms to supervisor through daily assignments or property management system
  • Accomplishes minor repairs and maintenance of equipment; reports major repair needs to supervisor
  • Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways
  • May load and unload trucks/vans, assist with receipt of supplies, and move heavy items using hand trucks
  • Uses hand tools (hammers, pliers, box cutters, crowbar, shears) for tasks such as cutting bands
  • Manages pass keys and other assigned keys; returns all keys at the end of each shift
  • Reports unusual circumstances (e.g., no luggage in stay-over rooms, unauthorized pets, lost and found items) to supervisor immediately
  • May set up, break down, and clean the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, including heating displays, replenishing items, and ensuring the area is clean by the end of breakfast hours
  • Completes all required safety and security training, maintains a clean and safe environment, and applies knowledge of blood-borne pathogens safety measures
  • Follows all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity
  • Performs laundry operations at the facility
  • May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities
  • May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment and other certifications as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • No experience required; high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Moderate physical effort, including moving furniture and using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment
  • May be required to work a rotating schedule that includes days, weekends, holidays, and nights
  • May work across multiple locations based on business needs
  • Initial assignment at Navy Gateway Inn and Suites - China Lake
