Responsibilities
- Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions.
- Cleans walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows; strips and makes patient beds.
- Strips and applies floor finish, polishes floors, sweeps and mops floor areas, vacuums and cleans carpets using appropriate solutions, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning.
- Cleans in outpatient and sterile processing using proper cleaning solutions and as prescribed by departmental procedures.
- Thoroughly completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without sacrificing quality; completes work left from previous shifts and reports incomplete assignments to ensure continuity.
- Collects waste from all hospital areas and sanitizes waste cans; collects soiled linen and hazardous waste as established by the Infection Control Committee.
- Operates various types of cleaning equipment (mechanical and electrical, e.g., buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums), cleans equipment, and notifies supervisor of needed repairs. Reports safety hazards to supervisor.
- Climbs ladders to hang cubicles, window drapes, or reach high areas for cleaning.
- Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.
- Prefer experience with floor cleaning equipment and ability to strip, refinish floors, and clean carpets.
- Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations, CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations, and utilize proper personal protective equipment.
- Ability to comply with provisions of applicable Safety Data Sheet (S.D.S.) forms.
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
