The Opportunity

Chelsea Piers has opened two stand-alone clubs in Downtown Brooklyn and Prospect Heights, with a third club in the Flatiron District scheduled to open in Summer 2024. Chelsea Piers Fitness is seeking a Housekeeping I Associate to join its dedicated operations team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the club and exercise equipment are clean and well-maintained while providing excellent customer service to all members and guests.
  • Complete housekeeping tasks such as cleaning windows, dusting, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, polishing stainless steel, etc.
  • Maintain a clean locker room including showers, toilets, sinks, steam room, sauna, lockers, and vanity areas.
  • Regularly stock housekeeping supplies and keep well-organized storage areas.
  • Operate and understand various chemicals and personal protective equipment.
  • Aid with event and party set-up and break-down, including setting up tables, chairs, and event equipment.
  • Ensure the sidewalk entrance, stairwells, elevators, and lobby are presentable at all times.
  • Notify management team when any rooms or equipment need immediate attention.
  • Follows safety standards and practices at all times.

Qualifications

  • Full vaccination for COVID-19.
  • Clear understanding of a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Strong customer service, organization, communication, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work in a stationary position and move about the club for prolonged periods.
  • Neat appearance and good hygiene.
  • Good "people skills" and a "team player" attitude.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and possible overtime.
  • Non-allergenic to chemicals or dust.
  • Able to lift up to 40-50 pounds.
  • Detail-oriented, punctual, friendly, and motivated.

Priorities

  • Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience.
  • Prior experience in a fitness/sports facility.
  • Comfortable being in a locker room environment.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
  • OSHA 10 Certified.

Employee Benefits

  • Medical and Dental Benefits: Eligible after sixty (60) days of employment.

  • Tuition Assistance: Seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) annually for the first five (5) years of full-time employment, one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) annually after five (5) years of full-time employment.
  • TransitChek Program: Pre-tax purchase of MetroCards or TransitChek debit cards.
  • Employee Referral Program: Referral bonus of $500 for full-time hires (minimum 35 hours per week), $250 for part-time/non-seasonal hires (minimum twenty (20) hours per week).

Pay

$18/hour
