About the role
We’re looking for a Housekeeping Associate who is passionate about making a difference—whether through providing healing, eradicating loneliness, contributing to efficiencies, or simply being dependable. In this role, you’ll perform day-to-day cleaning activities in resident and patient homes, patient rooms, common areas, and administrative offices within our life-plan community, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in accordance with company standards and all federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Dust furniture, tables, window ledges, lights, beds, high pipes, and other surfaces.
- Empty and clean waste cans; replace liners.
- Clean and polish tables, fixtures, furnishings, and woodwork.
- Clean, wash, and disinfect bathroom sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, and floors; polish chrome fixtures.
- Clean windows and mirrors in bathrooms, entrance/exit ways, and patio doors.
- Clean all floors and baseboards by disinfecting, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, waxing, buffing, etc.
- Vacuum carpets and carpeted stairways.
- Clean walls and ceilings by wiping, dusting, and spot cleaning.
- Maintain clean work areas (carts, cars, closets) and ensure equipment and supplies are in proper working order.
- Maintain adequate supply of housekeeping and cleaning supplies.
- Follow established quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices.
- Report any facility, supply, or equipment damage or repairs needed to supervisor.
- Share observations and insights to improve departmental quality and efficiency.
- Attend all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
- Respond to resident, patient, and staff needs while honoring personal and property rights.
- Maintain accurate records through computers or other documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Tenth-grade education required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and floor-care techniques is a plus.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Working Conditions
- Sitting: up to 1 hour/day.
- Standing/Walking: up to 8 hours/day.
- Lifting, transferring, pushing, or pulling: up to 50 pounds.
- Driving: up to 3 hours/day.
- Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
- Occasional exposure to residents/patients with various disease processes, falls, burns, odors, and cuts.
- May be exposed to infectious waste, disease, and conditions, including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- Risk Category I for exposure to bloodborne diseases.
